We’ve been together for about a year and a half, but good friends for nearly 4 years.

Communication is most important to me. It’s the foundation of a relationship.

How has the Lovebox enhanced your communication and connection with your loved ones? 

Senior year of high school, I had to see my girlfriend in private because of her parents’ disapproval. I’ve identified as a transgender male since 2017, and their views did not align with ours when we broke the news we were in a relationship. We were practically banned from seeing each other, although I would visit her on her lunch breaks at work and wherever else I could see her, even in passing. When her parents found out we were sneaking around, they sent her to stay with her family in the United Kingdom for months at a time in hopes that we would break up due to the distance. It was definitely challenging being apart for so long, but having a Lovebox made us feel closer. I would send her messages overseas every morning, day, and night to make sure she knew I was thinking of her. I’d set the background image as pictures of things I was doing in my daily life in America. It was a convenient way to keep her updated and show my affection. Needless to say, we didn't separate, despite the distance and her parents’ disapproval. We live together and we are now engaged. Her Lovebox still sits on our nightstand and I still make sure to send her a message from time to time.

What is most important in this relationship that Lovebox helps enhance? 

The most important thing Lovebox has helped out with is feeling closer when we’re miles and miles apart.

 

If you could give one piece of advice to other couples, what would it be?

If you’re in a situation where it feels the outside world is caving in on your relationships, don’t ever let it get to you. Always be persistent with your feelings because they matter. Prioritize the people you love regardless of how anyone views it.
